Why putting greens in SF was the worst thing ever
I my opinion, it was a really bad idea of putting greens in SF and footprint only.
I always thought that Anet didn`t like ppl farming, but this is one BIG encouragment for ppl to farm green items. It is so easy to find them, and they make big money.
I don`t think the greens was a bad idea, but it should have been spread over whole southern shiverspeak and the fire island chain. Not only one spot where u can just get a group together and get rich in an hour.

They don't mind farming, as long as it doesn't wreck the game economy.

And have you actually tried it yourself? Rich in hour?
right...
The chance of getting a green that is worth something over 7k isn't that big.

About the farming, ok maybe they are not agains farming greens.
(I do think its screwing the economy, but I guess Anet knows better then I do.)
But about getting no items above 7K in an hour, I believe there have been several posts/threads, about that (I believe)75% of the ppl doesnt have more then 20K. 5 hours and you are way above that 20K. But I guess rich to u means like 10000K.

I found Rago's Flame Staff twice in the span of two days comprised of six or seven FA runs. It definitely can be a "get rich quick" scheme if things come out in your favor.

The main reason why I don't like the greens is that they are dropped in specific locations, by specific monsters. That kind of drop system tends to promote "running" for items, instead of actually playing through the game to find them. Personally I would enjoy it much more if the bosses simply spawned randomly throughout a wide selection of areas, so that you weren't forced into playing through the same area over and over again to get something from them.
And then of course there's the fact that green items are often nothing but power items. A.Net never took the time to invent special mods to put on them to turn them into actual uniques, they just made a bunch of regular items with maximum mods. This only helps to reinforce the idea that if you want the best items, you do furnace runs. It also doesn't promote competition between several types of items, but eliminates it instead.
The concept of uniques is a good one, but A.Net did not execute it very well imho.

People will complain about anything and everything. Including things like Green Items that were put into the game to help people get max items with mods a little bit easier.
Who cares if people are farming them? And claiming that they're screwing the economy? How did you arrive to that wild conclusion?

Quoted for truth!
I think the devs can do whatever they want - there will always be the big loud army of whiners waiting to whack them with their crybaby sticks.

The thing i dont like about green items is that anet didnt introduce enough... I mean, having a green item isnt much better, if at all, compared to collector items that you can easily get. So that means that getting a green item is 'kinda' like getting fissure armor.
More different greens woulda made ppl getting one feel more special... Isn't that what anet wanted the greens to do? Seriously, why did anet introduce green items in the first place?

Some of them are very rare and very hard to get. Take Tarnok Forgerunner. He only appears if you go in with no quests, and then its a random chance that he appears, and then a very low chance that he drops anything. It's still hard to get some of the greens.

well, comparing to old school UW farming (now mostly nerfed), i could get 20k in under an hour easily. That is a big difference with 20k in 5 hours...
Screwing up the economy? I haven't noticed hyperinflation lately when I checked on the various traders. Only ecto seems to be a bit more expensive I believe (over 10k) again. I haven't checked the past few days, so maybe things are borked now, but I doubt it. The part that is screwed up is some of the wanted gold maxed-out items or greens. but one can live without them.
It may turn out that this green item farming will screw the economy in the long run. Personally, I can't tell yet...

Yes, it did. So what?
You can earn like 3-5k per hour doing that. You could probably earn the same amount of money by killing Charrs and salvaging their hides. So, can we please stop this "green items are bad for the economy" bs? If enough people are going farming green items it will kill their prices - which means people no longer will do it. Economy really is that simple...

agreed, it is madness.
i spend the other day 20 minutes looking for a PUG (what exactly was I thinking then? ) for a SF mission. I was the only one, and I switched to various districts looking for other missionplayers. none.

I haven't found any green items so how is it a "get rich quick" thing?

You have a really caustic method of replying to people Fantus (re: whiners etc.) My post was making a simple observation nothing more nothing less, it did not indicate in any way if I thought it was a bad thing or good thing did it? That said it may as well be renamed Sorrow's Farming. Did the dev team intend for it to be a 99% "Lfg farming" area? Who knows, but that's what it has become...

Allow me to make an observation, then. People would be just as bothered if the opposite was true and it was a 99% "Lfg quest" area. It is not Anet's fault that Guild Wars' userbase is more interested in obtaining green items than doing quests with no reward besides XP.
The only thing I am critial of is the game's matching service, which could use some work to compensate for the debilitating wall that Districts puts up for people whose interests are in the minority. Regardless, if you are interested in XP, quests, or exploration, these are things not hindered too badly by the lack of interest. Henchmen serve just fine for a majority of the quests. If you are playing for the sake of commeraderie do so with friends! Chances are you probably wouldn't like most of the players that are only there for farming parties in the first place.

Give it time. Think of it this way, the more people farm, the faster more greens will come into the economy, and the faster prices will drop on them. Most greens are worth under 10K, and that number will continue to steadily drop. It's great that they introduced green items. Gives players a money sink, and gives other more do that (like me) have nothing else to do in the game. I have 4 LVL 20 characters, all ascended and beaten all missions. What is there to do now? I HATE PvP. Deleting a character to make a new one would just be boring. So, I farm. Why? To pad my wallet for Chapter 2 :P
